​On the morning of September 12, at the invitation of the School of Public Finance and Public Administration, Mr.Dai Shiyan, Associate Dean of the Nanyang Graduate School of Public Administration, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, was visiting the "Public Administration Forum" of the School, and gave an academic lecture titled "Strategies and Ways to Build a Harmonious Society in Singapore". Academic Lecture. More than 60 teachers and master's degree students attended the lecture, which was presided over by Prof. Yu Kuangyun from the Department of Social Security.

At the beginning of the lecture, Vice President Dai Shiyan introduced Singapore's political structure and unique path of development from an overview of Singapore's national conditions. With a political system based on the separation of powers between the legislature, the executive and the judiciary, Singapore has gone through three phases of development since its independence in August 1965: security and food, economic take-off, and catching up with the West, and has made proud achievements over the past half-century or so. Reviewing the great achievements of Singapore, Vice President Dai Shiyan pointed out that the key to Singapore's successful development lies in its active response to economic globalization and the implementation of reasonable industry-led policies.

Starting from the history of modernization, Vice President Dai Shiyan introduced the successful practice of Singapore in facing modernization. While facing the costs and challenges of widening income disparity, declining fertility rate, and rising cost of living, Singapore has focused on building a harmonious society with sustainable development, emphasizing communication with its citizens, improving education and healthcare system, emphasizing the moral cultivation of its citizens, and developing a competitive workforce. He pointed out that only through the establishment of an innovative and change-oriented government can a stable political and social environment be maintained and sound and sustainable economic growth be realized.

After the lecture, the teachers and students in the audience had a lively discussion on the experience and lessons of Singapore's modernization, the challenges of development, and the comparison between China and Singapore's modernization, etc. The atmosphere of the scene was active, and Vice President Dai Shiyan patiently and carefully answered the relevant questions in detail. At last, Prof. Yu Kuangyun made a summary speech on the content of the lecture and expressed his heartfelt thanks to Vice President Dai Shiyan for his wonderful report.
